Prepare yourself for a spine-tingling adventure on the **Trolley of Terror**, where history meets horror in the heart of downtown Albany! Step aboard the eerie, old-fashioned trolley and let your imagination run wild as your expert guide spins tales of terror that have haunted this historic area for centuries.
As you glide through the shadowy streets, you'll pass by more than 15 haunted hotspots—each with its own dark and mysterious story. From ghostly apparitions lurking in the courthouse lawn to unexplained phenomena in the historic buildings, you'll hear it all. Keep your eyes peeled, though—you never know when a restless spirit might make an appearance!
But the chills don’t end there. After the trolley tour, you'll be escorted into the infamous **Monteith House**, Albany's oldest and one of the most haunted locations in the downtown area. Inside this creaky, candle-lit pioneer house, you’ll gather around to hear even more chilling tales of ghostly encounters that have left visitors with goosebumps for generations. With every creak of the floorboards and flicker of the lights, you’ll feel the presence of those who never left.
This ghoulish experience lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, but the memories—or nightmares—might just last a lifetime. Dare to join us?
The Trolley of Terror event is a fundraiser to help support Monteith Historical Society's mission to continue to preserve Albany's first frame house and its collection of pioneer artifacts, as well as provide educational opportunities for the public. In October, the Monteith House Museum offers four different experiences:
Ghost Walking Tour: (October 10 and 11) A guide will lead you through the nighttime streets of downtown Albany, Oregon and share ghost stories from several locations. Upon returning to the Monteith House, you will be invited inside the house to hear some of the more chilling ghostly tales that have been experienced within its walls. (approximately 1 hour)
Trolley of Terror: (October 3, 4, 17, and 18) Board the trolley to ride in style as a guide recounts terrifying tales of unexplainable encounters in the downtown Albany area of more than 25 locations. After the trolley tour, you will be invited inside the Monteith House to hear some of the more chilling ghostly tales that have been experienced within its walls. (approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes)
VIP Experience: (October 18 and 25) Perhaps you are of stouter heart than others and crave the opportunity to experience your own paranormal encounter. Our VIP Experience is for you! A small group of visitors will take part in a paranormal investigation in the Monteith House and gain experience using a variety of ghost hunting equipment. (approximately 2 hours 30 minutes)
Carriage of Shadows: (October 24 and 25) Take a horse drawn carriage (headless horseman not included) around the downtown Albany area and hear some of the gruesome and inexplicable events of the towns' many historic locations. After the carriage tour, you will be invited inside the Monteith House for a candlelit tour of the oldest and most haunted home in Albany (approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes)
